The Corporation of the Town of Whitby has retained IBI Group to complete a "Whitby Cycling and Leisure Trails Plan" study. The key objective of the study is to develop a connected network of cycling and leisure trails routes, which allows cycling and trail use in Whitby to be more convenient, comfortable and safe. Main components of the study include best practices, future policies, design standards, public education, funding strategies, short-term and long-term implementation strategies.

Public consultation is important to the success of this study. Two Public Workshops will be held at different stages of the study to allow the public to provide valuable input into this study. All interested citizens are invited to attend these Public Workshops to share their ideas and concerns on cycling and trail use in Whitby.
